Server Installation

A Safedata Engineer will :

  • Unpack the equipment, inspect for damage, install per product specifications run standard tests & diagnostics routines, and install appropriate Compaq/HP service tools
  • Installation of Compaq/HP options purchased with the system and intended to go into the system or CPU box (e.g., extra memory, CD-ROM, etc.)
  • Physically connect the equipment to a Network, LAN or WAN as appropriate
  • Perform system power up & self test, verify equipment operations and ensure that the current device software and firmware is loaded
  • If the server is a part of the rack system, it will be inserted into the rack
  • If any hardware is found to be defective, it will be repaired or replaced under the terms of Compaq/HP's warranty
  • If the computer is sold Operating system installed at the factory, the engineer will ensure the operating system correctly presents the initial screen
  • Basic information such as how to start/stop the computer, routine preventive maintenance, and how to log a service call

 

Rack Installation

A Safedata Engineer will carry out the following work as appropriate:

  • Assembly of a single Compaq/HP 22U, 36U or 42U rack
  • Install Compaq qualified rack options (e.g. UPS, Console Switch)
  • Installation of coupling kit to join to an existing rack
  • Install server into assembled rack

 

Workstation or client installation

A Safedata Engineer will install a single Client device as specified below.  For each device the service will include the following where appropriate:

  • Unpack the equipment, inspect for damage
  • Install per product specifications
  • Connect monitor, mouse & keyboard
  • Run standard test and diagnostic routines, and install appropriate Compaq service tools
  • Install Network Interface Communications (NIC) card
  • Physically connect the equipment to a Network, LAN or WAN as appropriate
  • Perform system power up and self test, verify equipment operations, and ensure that the current device software and firmware is loaded
  • If any hardware is found to be defective, it will be repaired or replaced under the terms of Compaq/HP’s warranty
  • If the computer is sold with Operating system installed at the factory, the engineer will ensure the operating system correctly presents the initial screen
  • Basic information such as how to start/stop the computer, routine preventive maintenance, and how to log a service call
